WEEKLY SUMMARY OF ANI: Six more prosecutors have become subjects of control of property. In some cases, it was ANI’s ex-officio notification from the press.
In the week 04 - 08 October 2021, the National Integrity Authority (ANI) initiated 20 control procedures. Two prosecutors from the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, three prosecutors from the Chisinau Prosecutor's Office and one prosecutor from the Soroca Prosecutor's Office are targeted in six ongoing investigations. Some of the controls are started based on the self-notification of our institution from journalistic investigations.
12 controls on possible conflicts of interest targeted: a director of a municipal enterprise in Chisinau, a head of municipal enterprise in Taraclia, a chief executive of the Cantemir District Council, a head of autonomous public authority, a mayor of Cantemir district, five councilors from Causeni, Cantemir, Ungheni and Chisinau districts, a school principal from Donduseni and a kindergarten director from Singerei district. A mayor from Rascani district is checked for a possible incompatibility of office, and a civil servant from Cimișlia district for a possible restriction during the public office.
Two violations of ANI legislation were established by the Integrity Inspectors: a former deputy minister, who was found with a substantial difference between the acquired wealth and the realized income. ANI will inform public opinion in details, after the subject will receive the finding act. And, in the other case, it is about a mayor from Straseni district who admitted a conflict of interests during his mandate.
8 contravention cases were initiated for non-submitting of declarations of assets and personal interests and impeding the activity of ANI. In seven cases, a group of 6 councilors from the Lăpușna Council from Hâncești district and another councilor from the Cupcui Council are targeted. They did not submit the assets declarations on the Public Portal. And, a private medical center in Chisinau could be fined for obstructing ANI's activity for failing to submit requested information in a proceeding.
ANI lawyers participated in 22 court hearings to defend the findings.
ANI representatives provided 71 telephone consultations, of which 8 calls were registered at the Institutional Information Line. At the same time, a training was organized for approximately 44 subjects from the Police Academy of the Ministry of Interior.
